The American Humanist Association is pleased to announce that its 74th annual conference will take place in May in Denver, Colorado. This event will bring together humanist speakers, activists and honorees from around the country to discuss and promote their shared values of being good without a god.

WHEN: Thursday, May 7, 2015, through Sunday, May 10, 2015
WHO: The event will feature the internationally known theoretical physicist, Dr. Lawrence Krauss, who will be presented with the Humanist of the Year Award. Actor, producer and daughter of the renowned George Carlin, Kelly Carlin, will be the event’s keynote speaker.
Other honorees include: Humanist Heroine awardee Jean Kilbourne, media critic known for investigating the presentation of women in advertising as well as tobacco and alcohol advertising; Religious Liberty awardee Marci Hamilton, one of the country’s leading church/state separation scholars; Humanist Media awardee The Onion, a Peabody-awarding winning satire news source, and Seena Vali, a senior editor of the publication who will be accepting the award; Isaac Asimov Science awardee Lynn Rothschild, a senior scientist at NASA’s Ames Research Center; and Humanist Pioneer awardee Isaiah Smith, a nineteen-year-old student activist for the separation of church and state in Texas.
Other notable speakers and presenters include progressive lawyer and co-founder of Move to Amend, David Cobb; co-founder of Ex-Muslims of North America Sarah Haider; researcher on Latino politics and religion Dr. Juhem Navarro-Rivera; and President and CEO of Population Connection John Seager, among others. WHY: The American Humanist Association’s annual conference is an opportunity for humanists, atheists and nontheists from across the country to share resources pertaining to issues of maintaining the separation between church and state as well as eliminating the discrimination of nontheists. The conference sessions will also discuss pressing social topics such as end-of-life care, population growth and environmentalism, corporate personhood, and marijuana’s relationship to evolutionary biology.
